Amalfi

Designing a home for fine dining

The problem

We were tasked with the environment and architectural design of Derbyshire bar and restaurant, Amalfi White. This project included a complete structural refurbishment and the creation of a 60-seater restaurant; formal gardens; Prosecco and Cocktail Bar; VIP White Bar and The Ballroom for fine dining.

The solution

The charcoal, whites, pewters and blues used as colours, materials and fabrics were taken from images of the Amalfi coastline to create a contemporary ambiance linked with vintage and modern Italian graphics, including a selection of original 1889 share certificates found in the cellar.

The result

The collection of furniture, lighting and mirrors were sourced by the design team as either new purchases or second-hand items that were then re-upholstered or re-painted and finished to add to a contemporary space linked to the past. The final result reflected the purpose of Amalfi White, somewhere to relax and feel at home, whilst retaining that distinct luxury feel of a boutique bar and restaurant.
