Welcome to your weekly dose of TOO x TOO – Featuring Milton Glaser, PRIDE Month, Creative Review's 40th anniversary and Lady Gaga x ADOBE.

A homage to Milton Glaser

On June 26th, Milton Glaser, one of the most admired and influential graphic designers in the last century, died at the age of 91, on the day of his birthday.

The designer, who was born in 1929 in the South Bronx, is commonly very popular for his I NY logo, which he produced in his late years after he already founded Milton Glaser Inc.

In 2018 Dress Code produced and Andree Andrew directed a short movie about Milton Glaser, where the designer talks about New York and finishes with explaining some details about the iconic logo mentioned above that spread around the world at an inconceivable pace and width.

PRIDE month

The annual Pride parade in London was due to happen last Saturday, but like many events this year, it has been postponed. However, Pride in London still used this opportunity to launch a campaign to celebrate.

Aimed at creating the same sense of community that would have been felt if the parade had gone ahead and to remind people to support each other the campaign used two separate media.

Firstly, a set of graphic messages that rotate around the slogan “You!, Me!, Us!, We!”, – depicted in the bold, bright and very colourful Martin font, to represent the societal variety typical of LGBT+ communities.

Then a short movie that was shot in two days, that features a wide range of LGBT+ community members expressing their own experiences during the pandemic lockdown and what they did to feel united.

On the Pride in London website, it is possible to read more about the 300.000 acts of allyship as the goal of the campaign.

A creative 40TH Anniversary

One of the most popular design and creativity resources, Creative Review, is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year.

For the occasion the CR team has created a special issue that both looks to the past and at the present. In fact, one section focuses on reflecting on the changes that happened to the creative industry over the past 40 years and to those specifically related to the Creative Review story.

Another, features interviews with four “creative heroes”, who according to Creative Review are shaping the creative culture of today a way to celebrate what has the publication become thanks to all kinds of creatives.

The issue, with a fun and vintage look cover designed by Annie Atkins, is still available on the Creative Review website.
