Basketball Digital Experience
We were asked by Nike to design an immersive digital experience for a three metre tall screen in Sports Direct’s new Oxford Street flagship store. The result was a touchless basketball game that encouraged shoppers to go head to head to post the highest vertical leap of the week.
The ‘Play like a Pro’ game uses Ai technology to recognise a new player and calculate the hieght of thier jump. The customer is instructed to leap towards a basketball that has been mounted at the same height as a professional hoop, as a camera records the attempt in slow motion.
Once complete, users can use their mobile phone to submit their score the leaderboard for all to see, and download or share a branded video of the experience. In the four months following the launch of the store, the game was played 20,000 times.
